Serving Opportunities
Listed below are opportunities for service in worship at St. Thomas'. Everyone is invited to find a place to serve. Training is provided for the ministries requiring specialized skills.  Many of these ministries have a quick and easy process using Sign Up Genius.

Eucharistic Ministers: Eucharistic ministers assist with worship and the distribution of communion. The rotation is publicized on Sign Up Genius and usually involves serving once every 4 - 6 weeks.

Altar Guild: The altar guild assists in the preparation of the altar and worship spaces for services.  This includes the preparation of the elements for Eucharist as well as flower arrangements and other worship materials. Members set-up on Saturday for Sunday services on a rotating basis.

Ushers and Greeters: Ushers greet people, distribute bulletins, and collect the offering. Greeters specifically greet newcomers.

Acolytes and Crucifers:  Acolytes and crucifers are children grade 4 and older, youth, and adults who participate in worship leadership.  Tasks include lighting and extinguishing the candles, processing, carrying the cross, and assisting with the preparation for communion. Training is provided.

Lay Readers: Lay readers read the Old Testament Lesson, the Psalm (when not sung), and the Epistle during worship services. Readers serve on a rotating basis, usually once every 4 - 8 weeks.

Prayer Leaders: Prayer leaders lead the Prayers of the People during services of worship.
